We seem to know far too much about how love starts, and recklessly little about how it may continue.

COUPLE’S INTENSIVE 1 OR 2 DAY COURSE

What is a Couple’s Intensive?

A Couple's Intensive is a one or two-day bespoke course, focusing specifically on your relationship. You may be planning to build a new life together, want to deepen your understanding of each other, or renew a commitment. You might want to learn new skills to handle differences and improve the dynamics within your relationship. Or you may want to heal after an infidelity. You might want to rebuild a sense of connection or rekindle desire. Some couples use intensives to help them decide whether they want to stay together or separate.

Whatever the reason, I will design a bespoke package to provide you with the tools you need to improve your relationship and achieve your goals.

How does it work and what should I expect?

The intensive is a private, bespoke experience. Beforehand, you will fill out questionnaires that help me to better understand you and your relationship. I then design the one- or two-day intensive to fit your needs.

Whether you choose one or two days, the immersion creates momentum you can use when returning home.

Intensives usually run from 10:30am – 5:30pm with a one-and-a-half-hour lunch break. They usually run over a weekend but can be during the week.

An intensive may include:

  • Re-connecting to your partner

  • Psychoeducation

  • Neuroscience of relationships

  • Dialogue techniques & role-play

  • Understanding negative patterns

  • Childhood relationship dynamics; the presenting past

  • Defining what you need to work on individually

  • Working through the pain and anger of infidelity

  • Repairing a relationship & rebuilding trust

  • Dealing with differences & conflict

  • Rekindling desire

  • Creating a relationship vision

With both the one-day and two-day intensive, you will receive a folder filled with psychoeducational materials and effective exercises we practice together, as well as personalised resources that you can use to help keep you on track.

Where does it take place?

Intensives can take place on Zoom, but ideally are in person, in Brighton, East Sussex. Coming to Brighton to do it in person allows you to fully immerse yourselves in the process and makes it a minibreak by the sea. The intensive is held at The Brighton Counselling Rooms, 46 Down Terrace, Brighton BN2 9ZH and I can recommend hotel accommodation or B&Bs that are easily accessible.

Is the intensive format right for you?

An intensive isn’t for everyone.  It’s a good fit when both of you are committed to working on your relationship. Before deciding, I suggest we have a no-cost, 20-30 minute online Zoom session to discuss it. I can then answer any questions you may have and assess whether it would be right for you or not.

What can really be accomplished in just one or two days?

In one or two days, you will learn more about yourself and your partner within a safe, collaborative space that promotes positive transformation. Defining what is not working will open the door to new ways of doing things. Undertaking this in such a condensed period allows us to dive deeper into the patterns that shape your relationship without the stop-start pattern of weekly or bi-weekly sessions.

The one-day is primarily educational. You will learn new techniques to communicate better and manage your responses. We will begin to practice using some of these skills and create an effective roadmap to move you towards deeper connection and understanding.  It will give you solid ground to build on.

The two-day intensive is ideal for couples who feel they need more in-depth support to rebuild their relationship or to focus on specific issues. The second day is intended to build on the skills learnt in day one to help us get to and work more deeply on the core issues.

Many couples choose a two-day intensive after the discovery of an affair, or to work on more entrenched issues, such as ongoing conflict or loss of desire. Couples might choose to invest time earlier on in their relationship to avoid problems down the line.

Together we create a plan to help overcome repetitive patterns that drive couples apart. My aim is to empower you each as individuals and reconnect you as partners.

What if we still need help after our intensive?

You can schedule follow up sessions with me to reinforce and build on what you have learnt in the intensive.

How much does it cost?

The one day intensive is £1,100, the two day is £1,900.
